Safety is a crucial matter for us at Dive Downbelow PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre – we always put it first above all. So what did we do to up-skill our team about safety?
As part of our ongoing training effort, Platinum PADI Course Director Richard conducted a “surprise” real-world rescue scenario and stress test with the team! Without their knowledge except for Richard, a simulated accident was made to observe how effective the team would respond. The team then performed standard safety procedures to the unconscious victim with the supervision of Platinum Course Director Richard, as his role is coaching and rescue situation management.
After completing the task, an open discussion on possible improvements was held. With the simulated accident still fresh in our minds, Richard and Pablo gave review of oxygen provider skills and finally an in-water session with extra focus on working as a team. This is important because we are rarely alone in the unlikely event an incident may occur.
Overall the rescue workshop was great fun! It provided great training and valuable lessons to keep our team sharp and attentive. This is just one of the things that make Downbelow Marine and Wildlife different, and we are looking forward to giving more trainings to our teams this year.
