Ex Lahad Datu: Approximately 2 hours drive from the town of Lahad Datu northeast, the Tabin Wildlife Reserve is considered to be Sabah’s largest wildlife reserve, occupying a large part of the peninsula forming the northern headland of Darvel Bay. Tabin Wildlife Resort is built along the shallow banks of the Lipad River enclosed in the 1,225 km² areas that make the Tabin Wildlife Reserve, with 10 units of Hill Lodges and 10 units of River Lodges. A verandah overlooks the river of these uniquely designed timber lodges. The soft sound of the flowing water is very soothing providing the perfect ambience for a relaxing stay. Wooden boardwalk connects the network of lodges.

Each lodge has a twin or double bed, air conditioning and hot shower. 2 bottles of complementary drinking water is provided daily in the room but guest are also encouraged to use the Reverse Osmosis water refilling station at the cafe. Apart from the all day free coffee and tea, you can also get wifi at the cafe. The air-conditioned river and hill chalets is the perfect retreat to return to after a rejuvenating trek or hike. Tabin Wildlife Resort employs a dedicated team of highly professional and knowledgeable nature guides to accompany your nature excursion in the reserve. Your guide will  take you through an interpretative journey to learn about the various species of Dipterocarp trees found in Tabin and get up close with Sabah’s wildlife. Tabin is a true wildlife hotspot; the riparian forest, geothermal mud volcanoes, and dipterocarp growths all displays different and unique ecosystem which contributes to the multitude collection of flora and fauna in the reserve.

Bornean Gibbon are notoriously known to be very hard to track down despite hearing their loud calls at various times during the day, however at Tabin spotting of the Bornean Gibbon is surprisingly common. Tabin has a system of nature trails and reserve roads for the treks and safaris. Explore the exciting life of nocturnal fauna in one of the night drives during your stay. Not only that, Tabin also serves as a release center for previously captive or rehabilitated Orangutan and Bornean Sunbear. Every layer of the forest is habitat to various species of wildlife, some are which endemic or threatened.
