The island of Layang Layang lies 300km nortwest of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah off the coast of Borneo. Isolated where it lies on it’s own in the South China Sea, Layang Layang is perched on the edge of an atoll that rises from the depths 2,000m below.
The unique outcrop that is Layang Layang, consists of 13 corals reefs, offering mind boggling underwater scenery, and provides the staple of Layang Layang’s offerings; a diving holiday like no other.
Other than diving, the island lagoon is great for snorkeling or just a swim. If you prefer your swimming water a little less lively, the resort’s infinity pool is perfect for a cool-down, reading a book or drinking a couple of tropical cocktails. A massage centre with experienced masseurs provides a soothing distraction to help you relax or get rid of any tension that may have followed you to paradise.
The island resort’s facilities are big enough to host up to 150 people for seminars, meetings, banquets, conference or any kind of incentive group function.
For a bit of distraction from all things fish, Bird Island turns your attention to the skies. Countless migratory birds use the lagoon’s surroundings as a perfectly predator free pit stop. Crested terns, egrets, brown foot boobies, swallows and many other birds take a breather on Layang Layang after long journeys. Here they nest and all sorts of interesting bird interactions can be observed, making the island a haven for birdwatchers too.

Layang Layang island is home to Layang Layang Island Resort. The resort is open from March to August every year and is closed September to February. A typical package starts with 6 days 5 nights and extra nights can be added.
Built to reflect the architecture of Sabah’s traditional long houses, the modest-but-complete resort manages to wrap modern comforts with traditional styling.
The resort boasts 86 air-conditioned rooms, with a fridge, TV and private veranda each.
