Cardiff University Tropical Ecology Field Trip June 2015
Once again, we welcome students from the University of Cardiff in the UK to our premier PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre for their tropical ecology field trip. The students will complete specialised practical training as part of their Bachelors, Masters & PH.d Degrees, which they will use in their future careers as marine biologists, zoologists or ecologists!
Staying at our expedition camp for 12 nights in our island beach house, the group of 15 (13 students and 2 Uni staff) will first learn to dive and practise buoyancy skills then learn how to conduct various underwater surveys. This specialised training will be conducted by DB resident Platinum Course Director Richard Swann & dive safety overseen by your experienced instructor team. When essential training is complete, then the whole group will move on to confidently conduct coral identification, fish sizing, mapping & underwater surveys of their own! We’re hoping this group is as lucky as the group from the previous year, who spotted a rare porcupine stingray!
